Meishi Japanese Matcha | Premium Grade Green Tea Powder
GROWN AND GROUND IN JAPAN: Shade-grown, handpicked tea leaves, stone-ground into a fine powder. Matcha is the whole leaf rather than an infusion, which is why you drink the tea rather than strain it away.
VEGETAL, GRASSY, WITH AN UMAMI FINISH: Fresh vegetal notes, gentle earthiness and a subtle natural sweetness, with the savoury umami finish that distinguishes good matcha. The vivid green colour is an indicator of quality.
FOR MATCHA LATTES: Whisk 1½ teaspoons with a little hot water until smooth, then add hot or cold milk and sweeten to taste. A bamboo whisk gives the best result, but a milk frother works.
A BAKING AND DESSERT INGREDIENT: Adds green tea flavour and colour to cakes, cookies, muffins, pancakes, ice cream and cheesecake, and blends into smoothies, milkshakes and yoghurt bowls.
STORE IT PROPERLY OR IT FADES: Matcha is sensitive to light, air and warmth. Keep it in the freezer until opened and in the fridge afterwards, in an airtight container away from light. Poor storage dulls the colour and the taste.
